Self-determination in work?!

On 27 February 2014, the Andreas Mohn Foundation invited to a nationwide conference. The occasion was the coming into effect of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) in Germany five years ago. In terms of content, the area of work and employment in accordance with Art. 27 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was singled out and the status of implementation of the Convention in this regard worked out.

High-calibre speakers examined the issue of inclusion in the workplace from various perspectives and highlighted the complexity of human rights requirements and practical possibilities and strategies. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to the participants!

We are pleased that almost 150 people took part in the event and discussed it with commitment. The many questions and remarks from the audience showed how explosive and topical questions about self-determination in the world of work are at the moment and how many people deal with them. The great interest and a positive atmosphere were noticeable, which allow optimism for the future solution of many questions. We thank you for all the positive feedback about the event!

We hope to have provided thought-provoking impulses and set processes in motion through the event. We would like to see cooperation between the existing institutions and networks that are still to be established.

The Andreas Mohn Foundation will in any case continue to focus on the topic of inclusion and will continue to accompany it in the future!
